A Biblical Perspective On Artificial Intelligence

I’m not religious, but this is intriguing…

So maybe the title jumped out at you on this one. Does the bible really speak about artificial intelligence? The short answer is, “No!”

Per the subtitle, I’m not religious, nor do I feel the bible is inspired of God. I respect that viewpoint. I think it can be a rational conclusion, despite my atheism (depends on your level of conviction, I suppose).

But there are some things in the Genesis account that are very insightful respecting the essential nature or character of man. And these deep understandings may bring a lot to bear on how we should proceed with the development and proliferation of artificial intelligence.

My interest in many of these ideas were sparked by some books I’ve been engrossed in of late. Perhaps most notably, I’m fascinated by the one entitled 2084, written by Professor John Lennox.

Therein, he provides a number of scriptures which display a profound understanding of the human condition and what makes us uniquely so. You don’t have to be a religious person to appreciate them.
